Overcoming the Fear of Failure Workshop
What a great turn-out of about 120 participants at our sold-out event, entrance-by-donation, “Overcoming the Fear of Failure’ workshop, held on 3 March 2019, Sunday, at SCAPE Media Hub!
The event kicked off with Yen-Lu, the founder of Over The Rainbow sharing on the importance of mental health – and how the many obstacles, setbacks and failures in his own life and business shaped who he is. For him, “failure is not separate from success – it is part of success. They are two sides of the same coin.”
Yen-Lu’s sharing was followed guest speaker, Karen Tok, who gave us a taste of her world in coping with a learning disability which led to being a failure in school and how she discovered “education for living and not education for making a living”, turning her fear of failure into shining success through her incredible entrepreneurial journey.
During her talk, Karen Tok shared of her personal experiences of being one with fear. One of the epiphanies that she has had about education was “Education for living; and not education for making a living.” A few of the key points that she had shared with everyone at the workshop were: “Give up looking good and be one with fear.”, “ You can have fear but do not be frightened by it.”, and “Success is a lousy teacher…”.
During the Mindfulness and Releasing Process, key-note speakers and facilitators, Heiko and Selina Niedermeyer surfaced and identified the various root causes of the fear of failure that were deeply rooted in our subconscious minds due to certain painful past experiences and traumas, and released these with everyone present.
Many of the participants experienced deep emotional healing and discovered new insights on what had been driving their lives subconsciously. The Releasing process resulted in them feeling light, love and open-hearted connectedness with themselves and others.
We were flooded with questions and personal-sharing during the Q&A session, and the personal-sharing by the participants was very encouraging and moving.
“No fear can hold on to us, if we don’t hold on to it.”. – Heiko Niedermeyer
After the Mindfulness and Releasing process, a presentation of the graphic recording of the workshop by Giorgia Madonno took place. Many of the participants appreciated how the graphic recording had captured the essential points from the workshop in the form of a visually beautiful and informative piece of art on paper. A picture paints a thousand words, indeed.
The workshop concluded with a closing speech by Yen-Lu Chow. He summarised his personal experiences of and his key take-aways from the workshop.
This workshop has been made possible, many thanks too to the venue-sponsorship from *SCAPE Co. Ltd, a non-profit organisation with its mission and vision rooted in support of youth, talent and leadership development.
