Should an inclusive society include rough sleepers

Last Friday night, an extraordinary group of people opened my eyes to some important realisations regarding the rough sleepers on the streets of Singapore. I walked the streets at night with this group on the path they have walked for the last six years with one objective - befriending the Rough Sleepers of Singapore. I now have a whole new perspective and insights that I never saw.

Passing of school exams do not determine one’s intelligence nor success in life, ability to learn and apply the learning has a huge impact on life success.

No system in the world should ever take away the opportunity for education from a child. Passion for learning needs to be cultivated from childhood and it is through fun and learning how to learn.

In fact, when education is all about passing exam, it rips off the joy of learning and leaving the students paralysed by the fear of failure.

What a great turn-out of about 120 participants at our sold-out event, entrance-by-donation, “Overcoming the Fear of Failure’ workshop, held on 3 March 2019, Sunday, at SCAPE Media Hub!

The event kicked off with Yen-Lu, the founder of Over The Rainbow sharing on the importance of mental health – and how the many obstacles, setbacks and failures in his own life and business shaped who he is. For him, “failure is not separate from success – it is part of success. They are two sides of the same coin.”
